With the blessing of His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion, First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, a pannikhida will be served in memory of the late Metropolitan Laurus on the first anniversary of his death, March 16, 2009. The service will be performed at St Vladimir Memorial Church in Jackson, NJ, one of the late hierarch's favorite churches of the Eastern American Diocese. The church is where Archbishop Vitaly (Maximenko, +1960) is buried: Vladyka Vitaly baptised, tonsured and ordained the late Vladyka Laurus.
The parish hall will then host a Diocesan Assembly, chaired by Metropolitan Hilarion, with the participation of the Diocese's vicar bishops, clergy and laity. At the conclusion of the Assembly, there will be a Great Lenten Pastoral Conference and Retreat, which will end with a Pre-Sanctified Liturgy on Wednesday, March 18.
Further information, along with an ukase from the Ruling Bishop, is forthcoming.
