Metropolitan Laurus Receives a Delegation From Kursk Headed By Archbishop German
On February 26, 2008, His Eminence Metropolitan Laurus, the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, received His Eminence Archbishop German of Kursk and Rylsk and representatives of his diocese. During their warm and friendly meeting, they discussed the possibility of the Miracle-working Kursk-Root Icon of the Mother of God and an accompanying delegation of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia visiting the city of Kursk next year. The First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad invited Archbishop German to participate in the feast-day celebrations of the Kursk-Root Icon of the Mother of God of the Sign Cathedral at the Synod of Bishops in New York City. It is possible that the final decision on the question of the visit by the main holy icon of the Church Abroad to Russia will be decided at a meeting of the Synod of Bishops in December of this year, which, as is customary, is scheduled to coincide with the feast day of the Hodigitria, or Protectress, as the Icon is known.
