A summer camp called "Russian Mediterranean" was held from September 6-13, 2010, in the city of Cannes, sponsored by Archangel Michael Parish and the "Korsun" Youth Association of the Russian Orthodox Church. It is hoped that this endeavor renews the old tradition of annual youth camps held by this renowned parish of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia in Cannes. During the week, the young people, parishioners of churches in Paris and the Paris Theological Seminary, Meudon, Nice, Milan and Moscow, got the opportunity to get to know one another in labor and prayer. The participants of the gathering visited local Christian holy sites (Lerins Abbey, St Nicholas Cathedral and the Russian cemetery in Nice), helped do parish work, participated in divine services at Archangel Michael Church and met with its parishioners. The "Russian Mediterraneans" tried their hand at missionary work, and Fr Maksim Massalitine, the Parish Rector, told them about the holy sites of ancient Gaul and the Orthodox Christians living in France in the 19th and 20th centuries. They also found time for recreation. May God grant this this endeavor brings good fruit and contributes to the strengthening of the Russian Orthodox spirit on the Cote d'Azur.
