On the Apodosis of the Nativity of the Mother of God, the Traditional Procession of the Cross with the Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God "of the Sign" Will Leave Kursk Hermitage to the Cathedral of the Mother of God “of the Sign”
On September 25, 2016, the Apodosis of the Nativity of the Mother of God, the ancient tradition of a procession of the cross with the Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God "of the Sign” will depart from Kursk-Root Hermitage and head to the Cathedral of the Mother of God “of the Sign” in the city of Kursk. Seven years ago, the miracle-working image was brought to the region for the first time after a ninety-year sojourn abroad. This year the icon arrived on September 22 to the monastery, which was founded on the site of the icon’s discovery, and will remain there until September 22.
SCHEDULE OF THE PROCESSION OF THE CROSS
7:00 am: Divine Liturgy at the Church of the Nativity of the Mother of God in Kursk-Root Hermitage.
10:00 am: The procession of the cross with the Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God "of the Sign," will depart the monastery for the city of Kursk.
11:30 am: The approach of the procession to the church in the town of Tazovo, followed by a rest period.
12:30 pm: The procession departs from Tazovo.
1:00 pm: The procession will arrived in the town of Zhernovets.
3:00 pm: The procession will depart from Vvedensky Church in Kursk.
4:30 pm: A moleben will be performed before the icon at the courtyard of Znamensky Cathedral in Kursk.
From September 25-October 4, the icon will remain at Znamensky Cathedral.
