POLTAVA: October 19, 2016
The Elevation of the Cross Convent of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church Receives Relics of St John (Maximovich) the Miracle-Worker

The faithful believers of the city of Poltava, Ukraine, were given the opportunity to venerate the relics of St John of Shanghai and San Francisco the Miracle-worker, which at the invitation of His Eminence Metropolitan Filipp of Poltava and Mirgorod were brought to the region by His Eminence Archbishop Peter of Chicago and Mid-America, as reported by Pravoslavie.poltava.ua.

This important event occurred on October 18, 2016, at Elevation of the Cross (Krestovosdvizhensky) Convent. The relics were presented after Divine Liturgy celebrated by Metropolitan Filipp, Archbishop Peter and His Grace Bishop Veniamin of Novosanzharsk along with local clerics.

The relics were brought with the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Kyrill of San Francisco and Western America of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia. The portion of the relics were placed into an icon of St John painted at Poltava Missionary Theological Seminary.
