An anniversary icon and akathist recording are made for the 25th anniversary of the canonization of St John (Maximovich)
To mark the 25th anniversary of the canonization of St John of Shanghai and San Francisco of Shanghai and San Francisco, Russky Pastyr’ is publishing a limited edition of a jubilee icon of the great archpastor of the Russian diaspora. The image bears an ultraviolet mark and is framed in an “oklad” in the old Russian style. The verso bears an inscription in Russian and English.
The world premiere of a recording of the akathist to St John is also scheduled to coincide with the jubilee. The CD was recorded with the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Kyrill of San Francisco and Western America, sung by the parish choir of St Simeon Church in Birmingham, AL, under the direction of Alexander Fechanin, with the participation of clergymen from San Francisco: Protopriest Peter Perekrestov and Deacon Edward Anderson.
