Archbishop Kyrill of San Francisco and Western America officiates at divine services at the first church in the world dedicated to the Holy New Martyrs in Oregon
On February 4, 2024, His Eminence Archbishop Kyrill of San Francisco and Western America celebrated Divine Liturgy at the Church of the New Holy Martyrs and Confessors of Russia in the town of Mulino, OR, which was the first church in the world dedicated to this host of saints. Concelebrating with His Eminence were Archpriest James Baglien, Rector of the Church of St Martin the Merciful in the city of Corvallis, OR; Hieromonk Peter (Karakozov), cleric of the Old Cathedral in San Francisco; Priest Boris Levashov, Rector of the parish, Deacon Vladimir Nazarenko and Deacon Andrey Volodkin.
Archbishop Kyrill awarded Fr Boris with the right to wear the nabedrennik for his zealous service for the benefit and prosperity of the parish. The sermon before communion was delivered in English by Fr Peter. The singing was prayerfully performed by the choir under the direction of LR Assur.
After the dismissal, Archbishop Kyrill congratulated everyone present on the patronal feast day by delivering a sermon in Russian. After the Divine Liturgy, the sisterhood of the parish provided a hearty meal for the parishioners and numerous pilgrims from different parts of Oregon.
